Democrats: Get off your duffs and do something
Before it is too late
I’ve never been a Democrat and I’m not Republican. I’m just a soon-to-be 85 year old guy that doesn’t want to see the Democrats become even more irrelevant than they are now. That would be bad for the country. We have significant problems and our country is in decline. Instead of offering solutions, democrats are behaving like small children – miserable, ill-disciplined, self-righteous and useless.
Sure, they are bitter about losing an important election, not only for President but for many other government offices. But their behavior also comes about from years of adherence to political correctness and identity politics – the forming of exclusive political alliances based on religion, race, social background, ethnicity, gender, life preferences and other identities. They are more concerned with diversity of demands by women, African Americans, Latinos, immigrants, Muslims, and L.G.B.T. people than in appealing to Americans as a whole. A result is an America that is as divided as it has been since the Civil War.
Democrats have made victims out of each of the identities: e.g. women, blacks, Latinos, Muslims, lesbians, gays, bisexuals, transgenderism, and others. As is typical of victims, Democrats are taking no responsibility for the shape that the country is in. And worse, will not accept any accountability for the divided nation that we have become
So Democrats, I’m begging you to stop this nonsense. Get off your duffs and do something before it is too late. Become relevant. Do something that makes America better. Be the Best is the Enemy of Better party. Don’t try to come up with the best solution. That almost never works. Don’t look for the best solution to the immigration problem, the healthcare problem, the income tax problem. Make proposals to chip away at them. Get noticed for something other than opposition. You can’t possibly think that there are not significant problems with our country’s handling of healthcare, education, immigration, the economy, taxes, foreign affairs, entrenched establishment and so much more. You have a lot of things to work on; things you can contribute to.
Get to it.
