In debates or at rallies, no matter what the questions are, here’s what you should do:
Review what you inherited from previous administrations, including
- Economic stagnation
- Weak border security and massive illegal immigration
- Sanctuary cities
- ISIS terrorism
- Weakened military
- Skyrocketing health insurance premiums
- War on police and law enforcement + riots in the streets
- Attacks on religious freedom and traditional values
- Scandals at the IRS and VA
- A sharply divided country on racial, ethnic and gender lines
Review your campaign promises that you made in 2016
List the promises you kept and the results. Tell the facts without embellishment. As I used to tell me consulting clients and MBA students, “If you want to improve your credibility, don’t use adjustives.” Include:
- Tax cuts
- Cut government over-regulation and red tape
- Employment growth and wage growth (especially blacks, Hispanics and women
- Judicial reform and new judges
- Dismantling of worst parts of the Obamacare
- Work on the wall
- Stopped taxpayer funding of sanctuary cities
- Defeated ISIS
- Rebuilt U.S. military
- Brought back manufacturing jobs from overseas
- Gained energy independence
- Overhaul of the VA
List promises not yet met with reasons and status of each
List new promises for the future – i.e. Your 2020 platform.
List the consequences of not being re-elected (mostly the democrat platform)
- Stack the Supreme court with socialists
- Banning and confiscation of firearms
- Censoring and criminalizing speech that does not support Socialism
- Unlimited abortion up to the moment of birth
- Indoctrination vs. education of our youth
- Destruction of our history and American institutions
- Attacks on religious freedom
- Medicare for all leading to rationing of Medicare for seniors
- Open borders
- Granting citizenship to illegal aliens
- Free healthcare and welfare for illegal aliens
- Abolition of ICE
- Defunding and disarming of police
- Releasing violent criminals (in the name of prison reform.)
- Depriving citizens the right to defend themselves
- Raising federal taxes on utilities, gasoline, businesses
- Restoring crippling restrictions on energy reduction
- Slashing spending on the military
- Abandoning Israel
- Reinstituting the Iran nuclear agreement
- Bailing out failed and bankrupt irresponsible cities and states
- Paying slave reparations to African Americans
- Enacting the “Green New Deal” with its multi-trillion-dollar costs
- Lawlessness and riots
- Sanctuary cities
- Loss of free speech
- Inferior health care
- Weakened position vs. China, Iran, North Korea, Syria
- Loss of jobs in the energy field
- Dependence on foreign sources of energy
- Weakened support for Israel
It should be noted that each of these consequences has its own dire consequences.
When I read this I can’t help but remember when John Leno on the tonight show would walk the streets asking people who the President and Vice President were and almost nobody got it right. Then he would ask who the Secretary of State and House leader or Senate Leader was and nobody got that right. They didn’t know who their State Senators were or their State Representatives were that they probably had recently voted into office. I’m ok with the level of ignorance in our democracy because I learned a long time ago that God is in control and He is not ignoring anything. He is on the job 24/7 and never sleeps.
This is why I appreciate it so much when anyone can lay out a well thought out piece like this. Obviously you do your research into what you believe and can lay out a well put together piece backing it up. It would take months listening to any media to actually get this info. I like listening to our family disagree on issues because they do their homework. I think it would be a boring world to live in if every one of us always agreed on every issue. I’m not sure I would want to live in that world and I’m glad we live in a country where we can disagree. Every election since Reagan has been fairly close so you know day 1 that the President’s job is going to be tough because half the nation disagrees with whatever you do.
Our radio station did a broadcast recently where they asked Democrats to talk about issues and support their position. They all failed miserably. Then they asked Republicans to do the same and had the same result. So I’m not really sure if there are many voters out there that have any rational reason for who they vote for because very few seem to be able to articulate it.
This piece is definitely one of those extremely rare instances when someone does know why.
